Emeryville's Chief of Police Retires

After 40 years of service to the people of Emeryville, the popular Ken James officially retired tonight, accepting the recognition the City Council bestowed upon him in a resolution.  Mr James started out as a rookie cop in Emeryville and managed to retire 40 years later as Chief of Police.  During that time, he saw a Police Department unprecedented rise in popularity, now garnering more than 80% approval rating from those they serve.

  2. Probably 80% cause they were hands off.
Saw a 20 person fist fight in front of Emery High a number of years ago, and 3-4 uniformed Emeryville Police just standing around watching it happen while school administrators tried to stop the fighting.
And from what I recall, only one person got arrested, and only because she had an unlicensed gun that fell out of her purse.

    Great police force there.
