After 40 years of service to the people of Emeryville, the popular Ken James officially retired tonight, accepting the recognition the City Council bestowed upon him in a resolution. Mr James started out as a rookie cop in Emeryville and managed to retire 40 years later as Chief of Police. During that time, he saw a Police Department unprecedented rise in popularity, now garnering more than 80% approval rating from those they serve.
include me in the 80%. happy trails chief.
ReplyDeleteProbably 80% cause they were hands off.
ReplyDeleteSaw a 20 person fist fight in front of Emery High a number of years ago, and 3-4 uniformed Emeryville Police just standing around watching it happen while school administrators tried to stop the fighting.
And from what I recall, only one person got arrested, and only because she had an unlicensed gun that fell out of her purse.
Great police force there.
