OAKLAND -- A 24-year-old Emeryville man was fatally shot Thursday morning on a heavily traveled West Oakland street.
The man, identified as Miandrew Rachal, was found dead from gunshot wounds about 2:42 a.m. Thursday in the middle of the street, in the westbound lanes of the 900 block of West MacArthur Boulevard near Market Street.
It's not known why he was there and police have no motive or suspects in the killing.
The street was temporarily shut down while police did their investigation. The killing was Oakland's 82nd homicide of the year. Last year at this time, there were 80 homicides in the city.
