The League of Women Voters Berkeley Albany Emeryville will be hosting a candidate forum for those running for the position of Emery School Board Trustee on Sunday October 18th at 3:00 pm. The forum will be conducted via Zoom. This event is a re-schedule from the event that was scheduled for October 8th but cancelled due to non-participation of the two school board members running for re-election. Presumably, Sunday will feature at least one incumbent as well as the Tattler editor and school board candidate, Brian Donahue.

ReplyDeleteMr Anonymous makes a great one word point that is infused with pre-positions of the relevance of participatory democracy in the age of Trump, as in: 'what difference does it (will it) make?' This is a good point without a good (simple) answer. To that I would suggest that nothing can be gained with trying. Without participation, our fate is indeed sealed. With participation there is a chance, however fleeting, that a change could come about via education and then the crucial second step: enfranchisement. We should try to make the schools better in our community.
DeleteGlad this could work out. The League helps me every time its voting season and sets ethical guidelines for candidate behavior so young people can learn what that means.
ReplyDeleteGreat news! I hope Brian calls them out for failing emery unified students. Emery Students and schools deserve better than the same corrupt and careless leaders who have repeatedly failed to improve the schools.
ReplyDeleteI watched the forum and Brian knocked it out of the park. Too bad he refuses to be on the school board, we could really use him.
